“Proven Health Benefits of Wild Lettuce”

“A Stress and Pain Relieving Agent that Also Works for Nagging Coughs”

Wild lettuce or Bitter lettuce is also known as Lactuca virosa is a great relaxing and sedating herb that has been used for thousands of years. In fact, Roman emperor Augustus erected a statue to a herbalist who recommended wild lettuce for his health problems. And in ancient Egypt, there was a wild lettuce harvest because this herb was well known for its healing qualities.

Where it Grows - Wild lettuce grows in the US, Australia, Canada, Europe, and in India and a few more places around the world. And there are articles about how to identify this herb and pick it yourself… but it is a bit prickly so wear gloves.

Works Great for Stress and Anxiety - Wild lettuce works great for those suffering from stress… taking a cup of tea one to three times a day will allow tension to flow away and help a person relax.

Leaves are Edible - The leaves can be boiled and then used as food but they are slightly bitter like some bitter lettuce varieties.

Works Great for Pain - Wild lettuce also contains lactucopicrin and lactucin which were found in a study in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology to work well for soothing pain in mice.

Helps with Arthritis - Because wild lettuce helps with pain in general… and it also helps with arthritis and joint pain.

Works for Asthma - Wild lettuce helps with asthma and some people swear wild lettuce prevent severe asthma attacks.

Contains Antioxidants - Wild lettuce contains powerful antioxidants such as quercetin, aesculin, courmarins, n-methyl-b-phenethylamine and cichoriin which help to prevent cardiovascular disease, strokes, and cancer.

Calms a Nagging Cough - Wild lettuce calms a nagging cough that just doesn’t want to go away. But remember to check with your doctor if you have a nagging cough this might be something more important that needs to be addressed.

Helps with Migraines and Headaches - Wild lettuce works great for getting rid of migraines and headaches. Take a cup of wild lettuce tea as soon as a headache starts and it will disappear in minutes.

Works Great for Insomnia - I personally, know someone who uses wild lettuce for insomnia… and it works great for getting a good nights rest.

PMS - Drinking a cup of wild lettuce tea helps with those suffering from the pain and anxiety caused by PMS.

How to Make Wild Lettuce Tea - Take one or two teaspoons of the fresh or dried herb and add it to a cup of boiling water and steep for 15 minutes… then drink 1 to 3 times a day.

Tincture Dose - Take wild lettuce tincture at the rate of 30 to 60 drops - 1 to 3 times a day.

Forms - Wild lettuce can be found in tea, tincture, whole dried herb, and capsules. But teas and tinctures are the most common.

Finding - Google “Buy Wild Lettuce Powder” and lots of places that sell it will come up… and it can also be found on Amazon and eBay. In fact, they have lots of wild lettuce for sale on Amazon and eBay. But you can also go out and pick your own wild lettuce, it’s probably growing in your yard or on the side of the road near you.

Side Effects - If taken in normal doses for short periods of time wild lettuce is safe… but it should not be taken by those who are pregnant, nursing, or by small children, those with glaucoma or prostate disease or by those who are taking some kind of relaxant medication. And this herb should not be used while driving or operating machinery. And like all herbs, supplements, and medications they should only be used for 7 to 10 days and then take a week off and then come back to it if needed. And be aware that this common garden weed is a powerful sedative agent and can cause vertigo and nausea… so use it sparingly. If you have questions feel free to ask me… my consults are always free.

Many Blessings to Everyone!
