Maral Root also known as Rhaponticum carthamoides and leuzea is not that well known— but it’s gaining popularity and becoming more common. But maral root has been used for thousands of years in Traditional Chinese Medicine. And it’s considered a powerful tonic herb for extending life with no side effects.

Where it Grows - Maral root can be found in cooler areas of Mongolia, Siberia, Russia, Eastern Europe, and China. And some people are propagating maral root in Texas and Santa Cruz California. But maral is a very slow growing plant and takes time to reach maturity. This thistle-like plant lives to be up to 150 years old.

How Maral Root Got Its Name - In Russia they found maral deer eating these plants thus “maral root” became the common name for the herb.

Dose - Most people take 2 or 3— 500 mg capsules twice a day— as a powder that is 1,000 mg to 1500 mg twice a day or 10 to 20 drops of the tincture 3 times a day.

Side Effects - Maral root is pretty safe, no one has ever found any true side effects if taken in moderate doses. But like all herbs and supplements, it should not be used by those who are pregnant, nursing, or small children. And I recommend that maral root like all herbs should only be used for 7 to 10 days and then take a week off and then come back to it if needed. All herbs, supplements, and medications put a burden on our liver so use everything in moderation.

Finding- Maral root can be found on-line by googling “Buy Maral Root Powder” and it can also be found in Amazon and eBay. And it’s pretty inexpensive compared to lots of other herbs.

Enjoy Maral Root!
