Sweets are delicious and pleasurable to eat. People often associate sweets with weight gain and serious health risks like diabetes. Sweets do not always have a negative impact on health if you keep the intake under control. There is an extensive variety of sweets available and this gives you the liberty of eating desserts that are composed of healthy nutrients.

The sweets have both positive and negative impact in health. Here are some pros and cons of eating the sweets.

Pros:

Nutrient filled desserts:

The body craves desserts because it needs delicious desserts contain sugar and carbohydrates that the body needs. Carbohydrates are an essential nutrient for the body. The desserts are not the healthiest option when it comes to consuming carbohydrates but it can help the body, get the nutrients that it needs. Sweets that contain ingredients such as dark chocolate or pumpkin are full of rich and whole food that provide essential fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants that balance the diet.

Improving the weight control:

Most of the diet plans fail because of the cravings for the sweets. People do not like abandoning the desserts at once as it can increase the craving. If you want to succeed in maintaining the weight loss then you should take things slowly. The body will respond well to the gradual change in diet. You can still take small amounts of dessert to satisfy the craving. Sticking to small portions will not interfere with the weight loss plan and satisfying the appetite. Completely abandoning the desserts is not the healthiest decision you could make.

Incorporating fruit in diet:

Fruits are an essential part of a balanced diet as they keep a person healthy and fit. If you are not a fan of fruits, you can always incorporate them into the desserts. It is the most delicious way of enjoying the fruits such as blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, etc. The options for incorporating fruits into desserts are countless.

Diabetes risk:

Sweets are responsible for increasing the risk of diabetes. Diabetes is a condition where the blood sugar level is abnormally high. There are dietary factors can result in promoting the condition.  The desserts have added sugars which can result in increasing the chances of getting diabetes. The sweets are palatable because they have added sugar so be careful that you do not have to suffer.

Decaying teeth:

Too much sweet is not good for the dental hygiene. The sugar produces harmful acid when it comes in contact with the plaque that is present on the teeth. The drinks like sodas have phosphoric and citric acids that are responsible for erosion. It can cause permanent damage to the teeth.

Bone strength:

The sweets are also not good for the bone strength. You may be tempted to buy desserts as you look at the patisserie display but remember that if your diet is rich in sugar will result in weakening of the bones. If you are not careful about the sugar intake you can suffer from a bone fracture as well.

Keep these pros and cons in mind so that you can control the intake of sweets.
