Glad it's graphic aspects did not offend.
Of course I wish the world was vegetarian ,
I feel that would solve a lot of things from adequate food supplies
to health. Also aggressiveness ,
I know I was more aggressive when I ate meat.
I had a strong debate with my otherwise wonderful Dr about it , because I am Type O ie Hunter Gatherer. One very obscure note amidst the series The Blood Type Diet mentions how O's can have a Coleus herbal supplement instead, though does not mention why.

Side note off subject
the only thing I know about the herb
which is is not an effect that the supplement gives.
It's a very interesting herb , actually a sacrament is made by seeping it's crushed leaves in hot water not sure if boiling hot.
One name for it is Blood of Christ , supposedly because of its red centred leaves that are , according to legend , meant to have been splashed with it , as The Nazarene passed, bearing the cross , although similar names and legends accompany other sacraments .
There are books on the subject , how several herbs and fungi can alter ones perception and open windows on the Spiritual Realms.

Bridging comment
Many actually become vegetarian after the experience such sacraments give.

Back to the world becoming vegetarian,
not much hope for that, at least not overnight .
I do wish meat eaters would consider the living and dying circumstances of the animals they eat and choose their sources
with that in mind.
Often we can only move forward a step at a time
and that would be a wonderful step in the right direction.

Some cultures do not have much choice because of their growing climate. Some Mongolian Buddhists, for instance, are a good example.

This is meant mostly for those just about to start becoming a vegetarian or struggling with becoming one. That something from my experience may be of help . I hope the odd part not too odd for members of this site .
Though they may find something useful perhaps in sharing about the why's and how's ~
It may offend some vegetarians as I share about the transitioning to , the straying from and future reasons for a need for a limited return to.
I also am offended by seeing the same 4 letter word , often casually, used , when I am aware of its history and journey .

I have been vegetarian for over 42 yrs , although was inclined that way since a child , who went without dinner rather than eat a bunny.

It is strange how we do not associate meat with the animal of the same name and this was my very tearful moment of realisation.

Still vegetarianism was a rarity way back then , so it was not till I actually met one that I changed virtually over night.

That is when I discovered meat is actually addictive and it took a week to wean myself of it , choosing a low in actual meat content pie from the fish and chip shop. This strategy actually did work , it satisfied the craving , yet because there was so little in it, the next stage happened naturally without any cravings or withdrawals.

For some, an ethical safe fish source may help with the interim stage.
If we find there are difficulties getting food in the future, so adequate protein sources become unavailable, then I would think of fish . Probably as part of my green self sufficiency project with the hydroponics system that includes fish , though giving them more space .

Morally I feel I should only eat something that I have not given someone else the task of dispatching . I think it a horrendous job that some folk are bound to 9-5 . An unnecessary traumatic journey the poor animals must go on .

Karma wise I do not wish to be in the circle of predators neither to be eater or eaten . If I eat a goat , then how can I feel a tiger has no right to eat me .
This relates to Gandi's story , the night following eating some goat , he spent the night dreaming of a goat bleating in his tummy .
He never broke his vegetarianism again .
Was it conscience , indigestion , the goats spirit or another reason .

I had a very very odd experience related to this, over 36 yrs back, when living with a meat eater (year of the Tiger)
I had tried to eat some meat as a test of my decision some years earlier . Reviewing beliefs I had adopted, was usually a healthy part of keeping track of my path.
On that occasion I managed to bypass the usual aversion to tasting blood and flesh.
I remember I was traveling in a car and thinking it over, saying to myself, 'it was just an experiment'. Then a voice not my own spoke in my head, 'you don't mind if we eat a bit of your brain then , just as an experiment!?'. It was before the ET popularity , yet that is what I felt the voice was from and as some are meant to see us as cattle , then including them in the circle of predators has its place.
Now it could have been conscience , indigestion or an advocate for the creature , I only know it happened as a direct consequence of eating the meat and I feel better not being in the predator predated circle .

My emotional reason for not eating it, is that I wish animals to sense they need have no fear of me and that my enjoyment of them will not be of detriment to them .

Good luck find your own pace , do not judge yourself for past choices
our society conditions us to believe is normal .
During transitioning stage , straying or if it becomes too difficult, such as the rest of family still eats it. Then aim for best sources and educating about the places that look after the animals welfare. Organic and free range usually has a better life. Good source fish and fowl and homemade versions of such as burgers padded out with good grains are a good way to reduce ones own and family's addiction levels.

Going vegetarian halves CO2 emissions from your food:

I prefer coconut oil for cooking and I also drink a spoonful regularly. "Oil pulling" with coconut oil means keeping a dessert-spoon of it in your mouth for 10 mins and swerling around your mouth. This removes bacteria & toxins. You must spit the oil out afterwards.
